Results

The effect of open-label naltrexone as add-on therapy was examined in 34 outpatients with bipolar disorder and alcohol dependence. Twenty-six patients returned for post-baseline assessments. Significant improvement was observed on the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, and the Young Mania Rating Scale, but not on the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale. Alcohol use and craving decreased significantly.
