Treatment Trials for Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder
The purpose of this program is to facilitate the direct testing of new treatments for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The deadline for treatment trials proposals is October 1 of each year. The awards are granted for a maximum of $300,000 per year for up to three years, depending on the stage of development of the compounds to be tested and the type of trial that is required

Natural substances, including:
herbal medications
nutraceuticals, e.g., amino acids or essential fatty acids
non-western traditional medicines
Please check the master list of SMRI-awarded trials prior to completing your application. If we are already supporting trials with the compound you propose, we are unlikely to support an additional trial until results are available.
