Thirty three patients with treatment resistant auditory hallucinations were randomized to receive rTMS or sham for 10 consecutive days over the temporoparietal cortex. The treatment was for 15 minutes at 1 Hz and 90% of resting motor threshold. There was no clinically significant difference between active and sham treatment, but a modest reduction in the loudness of hallucinations was observed.
